Event description
The Road to Awareness associate fundraising campaign has been making a positive difference to children in the communities former Starwood hotels operate in since 2008. Every year, employees throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East organise fundraising events to help raise funds for UNICEF’s vital work for children.
The campaign began when several senior associates at Starwood decided to take on a 3-day cycling challenge in the French Alps and Pyrenees in aid of UNICEF. In the 9 years since, associates have raised close to USD 7 million and the bike ride has continued to be an anchor highlight of the campaign every year.
This is a campaign that is very close to the hearts of the former Starwood associates, and now, under the Marriott International expanded portfolio, we have launched both the broader Road to Awareness campaign as well as the traditional and challenging bike ride across the combined portfolio in the region.
This year we are not continuing our UNICEF partnership across the Middle East, but we are in Africa. However we have identified a few charity partners across each of our markets, all with the same aim of helping children in need across our region.
We will be holding our 10th annual Road to Awareness bike-ride from Thursday 12th until Saturday 14th October in Jordan, 24 cyclists confirmed their participation from all over the continent.
