The Nukus Half Marathon, also known as the Aral Sea Region Heritage Half Marathon, is far more than just a race; it is a deep dive into the rich culture and traditions of the Karakalpak people. This event invites participants to not only challenge themselves physically but to embark on a cultural journey through the heart of the Aral Sea region.
As runners make their way through the course, they will encounter “islands of memory”; unique installations that commemorate the once-thriving cities and villages that dotted the landscape of the Aral Sea area. These artful displays are designed to evoke the history, stories, and spirit of the communities that have shaped the region. Additionally, a lively music program and various forms of entertainment will be set up along the route, providing an authentic taste of the local culture for both participants and spectators alike.
